Holiday cookie creation is a must at this time of the year, so gather the family around, throw these ingredients together and enjoy the good old fashioned family togetherness of making cookies. When done, put the Christmas music on, grab milk for the kids, a cup of coffee for yourself and sit and enjoy the fruits of your labor. The warmth of cookies right out of the oven, the joy of taking a few moments out of this busy season just to relax is one of the highlights of the Christmas Season! I know you will love these cookies as much as I do.

      Melt - A-ways
"Because they melt in your mouth!"

      1 cup flour
      1/2 cup butter
      1 teaspoon vanilla
      1 cup chopped nuts
      3 Tablespoons powdered sugar

Cream the butter and sugar in a bowl. Gradually add the flour mixing in thoroughly. Stir in the nuts and CHILL.

After the dough has chilled, form teaspoonfuls of dough into marble sized balls. Roll lightly between palms of hands that have been dusted with powdered sugar. Place on a cookie sheet (buttered) and Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until pale golden.

While the cookies are still hot from the oven, roll in powdered sugar. Cool on a rack. They will absolutely, I promise, melt in your mouth!

I do not know what to call the next recipe. My daughter had a cookie something like this while on a trip one day. She came home, bought some cookies and made her own version of this delicious cookie. I think I will call these cookies . . . .

      Carla's Treasures

      Butter cookies (buy them)
      the thin oblong flat ones
      Red and Green candy sprinkles
      Chocolate squares (for melting)
1 small jar of Strawberry Preserves or Jam

Melt the chocolate squares in a pan. Spread the strawberry preserves on one of the Butter cookies, then cover with another Butter cookie, making a jam and butter cookie sandwich. No, don't eat the cookie now. You are not done!

Dip this cookie sandwich just halfway into the hot chocolate, and then cover the hot chocolate with the red and green candy sprinkles.

Gently lay the cookies onto waxed paper to cool. I find that if you blow on the cookies while they are laying on the waxed paper, they will cool faster and you can get to the cookie eating part quicker!

Carla's Treasures are an easy to make, great tasting, great looking holiday treat for your Christmas visitors.

Enjoy, and have a Merry Christmas!
